The environmental and human rights NGO Urgewald is looking for passionate individuals to join our Global Oil & Gas Exit List (GOGEL) research team. GOGEL is the world’s most elaborate public information source on the oil & gas industry and includes various data points on the upstream, midstream and power subsectors. Place of work:             Berlin

Start of employment: January-February 2025

About Urgewald:

Urgewald is a German non-profit which has been shedding light on controversial industry projects for more than 30 years. Its in-depth reports and impactful campaigns aim to prevent said projects by targeting the involved companies as well as the financiers behind them. Its data-driven approach eventually resulted in the creation of two unique fossil fuel company data sets, one for thermal coal, the other for oil & gas. Today, more than 250 financial institutions from 24 countries work with GOGEL data systematically to monitor oil & gas exposure, implement better fossil fuel policies and to stop financial flows into new oil & gas projects. However, our data is not only used by financial institutions but also by journalists, academics and fellow NGOs. Currently, more than 70 people work for the organization, which is headquartered in Sassenberg. Our Berlin office has grown continuously after moving to a new location in Prenzlauer Berg in 2021. The GOGEL team consists of ten people with a diverse set of skills, from a variety of cultural and professional backgrounds and generations.
