For our international program team, we are looking for a

Program Portfolio Manager Western Africa (m/f/*)
in Munich, Berlin or Düsseldorf
on a full-time basis (38.5 hours/week)
starting as soon as possible

Your responsibilities

  • As part of the Program Audit and Development team you drive the implementation of our program strategy with a focus on Western Africa.
  • You are the primary contact for approx. 10 SOS Children’s Villages’ national associations and maintain a close dialogue with them and our regional offices.
  • You review program concepts, provide inputs for program development and make recommendations on projects selection to achieve high impact.
  • You monitor progress and quality of projects jointly with our regional offices.
  • You build expertise on the specific context of national associations in Western Africa and on select program topics.

Your profile

  • You have at least 3-5 years of relevant working experience which involved strategic thinking, project management and building relationships. Previous experience in the non-profit sector and/or in Africa is an asset but is not strictly required.
  • A university degree in economics, business administration or international development is an asset. However, candidates with a different academic background and a strong interest in international development and in supporting children and young people are also encouraged to apply.
  • You take a strategic perspective, do not get lost in details and you are used to taking decisions independently.
  • You are not scared of numbers and you are familiar to reviewing business plans.
  • You have experience in interacting with senior managers and officials and you are aware of cultural differences in communication styles.
  • You are proficient in English and French. German and other language skills are an asset, esp. Arabic, Portuguese or Spanish.
  • You are willing to travel abroad.
